We started the tour in the  Port del Canto (0: 00h – 1.720m). This mountain pass separating the Catalan regions of Pallars Sobirà and Alt Urgell joining Sort populations and Adrall. The port has a picnic area with tables and benches. Take the dirt track, heading northwest, leads us to the precipice of Comes de Rubió.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1

The route starts at the Port del Canto to 1.720m of altitude.

Few meters after starting the march, we find a signpost. To our right, we can intuit the path that will to lose and that goes from the refuge of Comes de Rubió through the Serra Seca and Pla Muntaner and reaches the point where we are. We continue straight on the track.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Signpost that indicates the path that passes through the Serra Seca and Pla Muntaner. At the same suit you can see the yellow marks that we find along the way down.

The track moves comfortably among a dense pine forest. We take an openness that makes the forest to look to our left (SW) Rubio village. This is the highest inhabited center of Catalonia, almost 1,700m high.In this town it is born a marked route that also goes by the track to the shelter for Rubió Comes. This track will link later after walking a while since the port of singing. We have chosen the Port del Canto as the starting point of the route precisely because the return from the refuge by the Serra Seca ends at the port of singing and so do we avoid a stretch of road journey at the end of the tour.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Views of the village of Rubió looking SW.

As we move forward, the track is turning timidly towards N-NE. After a while, finally we connect with the  track coming Rubio (0: 35h – 1.731m) crossing a small bridge River Comes de Rubió.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We cross a small bridge and connect with the trail that comes from the village of Rubio.

After a few minutes we leave to our left a construction (1.780m) we may serve in case of bad weather.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Construction.

The climb is continuous but the gap is gradually gaining, allowing us to enjoy the environment. We passed through an area where the forest opened slightly.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We passed through an area where the forest is not as dense.

We reached a plateau that precedes the shelter. This is a very beautiful and peaceful area, a plain surrounded by alpine meadows and exceptional pine forest where black predominates. This species of tree is well adapted to high mountain conditions: withstands low temperatures and long periods of snowfall. In Comes de Rubió is an area of reforestation of black pine. The uniformity of size repopulated area, density and age of the trees make than an optimal space enough to accommodate this environment unique species such as the capercaillie, the little owl or boreal forest bats. That is why we see some trees cut in order to naturalize the area and thus make it a more diverse and conducive to this type of environment wildlife.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Very near the refuge of Comes de Rubió.

Soon, we see the refuge in the background. This retreat known for presenting a Basque air with characteristic white and red facade.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We have the front shelter.

Finally, we arrive at  Comes saving shelter for Rubió (1: 30h – 1956m) (50 seats, toilet, kitchen, hot showers, mattresses, blankets, heating, lighting and emergency station; web:www.refugicomesderubio.com ). We are in the middle of what was once the glacial cirque of Comes de Rubió. Next to the shelter, we also find a playground and fountain.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Arriving at the shelter for Rubió Comes.

Front of the shelter, an information panel gives information about the area where we are and possible marked itineraries to do by their surroundings. The route par excellence of this area is the crown atop peak Orri Orri or turret, the highlight of this massif, to 2.439m. This summit is completely isolated from other large mountains culd and is therefore enjoying magnificent views of the great masses of the Pyrenees. It is easy to recognize from afar top, because its peak has installed two large antennas.However, since the shelter you can not be seen.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Information panel.

We continue the march towards NW in the same track we were coming.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We left the shelter behind.

Soon we came to a  intersection where you turn right (1: 33h – 1.960m). Follow the indication of the Rock Senyada (20 ‘) and the Lake of Davall (50’) of the route “Volta a les Comes de Rubió” Natural Park of the High Pyrenees.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We reach a crossroads.

We go back into the forest. The road makes a slight rise and take a clear direction SE.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Moving through the woods.

Along the way we encounter yellow paint marks on trees. Throughout the remainder of the tour, you go by following these marks.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1The road goes up.

We reached a point where the forest opens completely and gives way to a large meadow. We are in the  Col de Rubio (1: 45h – 2.014m). From this point we have a good view of the mountains that surround the Circus Comes to Rubio. At N we can see the Rock and Rock Músic Senyada.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Crossing tracks in the hill of Rubio.

We leave the marked route that goes to the Rock and the Lake of Senyada Davall, and take in the direction S, the wide dirt road that leads to the Pla Muntaner through the entire ridge of the Serra Seca.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Walking through the Serra Seca.

After awhile to advance the track surrounded by woods on both sides,  we leave to our left a track (2: 05h – 2.013m) leading down to the eastern slope of the Serra Seca. We continue advancing along the track we were coming.Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1We leave a trail back to the left and continue towards the Pla Muntaner.

After doing some small rise and a fall, the track turns slightly to the right, heading southwest. We leave to our left the Tossal de l’Eagle, a modest peak of 2.157m totally forested. We climb a few meters and reached the bucolic  Pla Muntaner (2: 30h – 2.052m).Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Coming from the side or the Tossal de l’Aguila (2.157m).

We must cross the entire level heading southwest and down the trail (yellow marks and some milestones) that will search the woods between the peaks of Tossal (2.119m) and Collets (2.064m).Comes back to the shelter for Rubió 1Pla Muntaner.
