Ecomuseum de les Valls d'Àneu - Casa Gassia

In June 1994, the Ecomuseum of the Aneu Valleys was opened to the public. Today, this institution is a living entity that, based on research, conservation, dissemination and restitution of our integral heritage, wants to participate and influence the economic and social development of the valleys of Àneu and also the development Of the rest of the Pallars. The Ecomuseum is born from a new museological and museographic conception, where the visitor enters, in an active and participative way, in the forms of life of the Pallars of principles of century. Unlike traditional museums, the Ecomuseum does not attempt to cover its entire exhibition within a building, but rather extends throughout the territory with the intention of explaining life in the valleys. The fundamental parts of the museum, are distributed by the patrimonial centers; The centers are distributed throughout the towns of the valleys of Àneu and the following centers can now be visited: Casa Gassia, the hydraulic sawmill of Alòs d'Isil, the monumental complex of Son and the Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere del Burgal (S.XII) of Escaló.
