Opening with a look at history
The Catalan Slalom Cup will be the first competitive event today.
Since 50 years don't come around every day, yesterday's opening ceremony in Sort of the Noguera Pallaresa International Rally featured a look back at the half-century of the classic Pallars Sobirà event, which this year marks. The opening of the Rally took place at the Sort Regional Tourist Office, which is hosting an exhibition commemorating these 50 years of activity until October 13. Two pioneers, Eliseu Gairí and Vicenç Morea, who were present at the first edition, were also present, along with participants from various eras.

The event, presented by actress Ivana Miño, featured speeches by Carme Maria Marugán, director of the Pallars Sobirà Regional Archive; Guillem Puras, president of AE Pallars; Patrick Torrent, deputy director of the Catalan Tourism Agency; Xavier Pont (Deputation); Enric Cobo (General Coordination of Archives) and the mayor of Sort, Llàtzer Sibís.
Following the speeches, a portion of the audiovisual presentation was shown. The exhibition, which is divided into two main sections and has already been visited by some 200 people, concluded with a musical performance by the Bridges Trio.
Today marks the first of the extensive program of competitions, the Catalan Slalom Cup, in the senior category, with approximately 150 paddlers participating. The Rally will conclude on the 27th.
