Magical and lucky town

The town of Sort is well-known because on three occasions the extraordinary prize of the Christmas Lottery fell in this area (2003, 2004 and 2007), which fits perfectly with the Catalan word that gives the town its name, Sort.
Sort is also known for being a town of witches, since in the 16th century the local women made herbal remedies, but the Inquisition put an end to these practices.
One of the town's tourist attractions is the Bruixa d'Or (The Golden Witch), a place where lottery tickets are sold. We're located just 50 meters from our hotel on the same street. In 2013, thousands of attendees arrived dressed as witches to attend a Guinness World Record-breaking event.

Lots to see in Sort

Not only sports enthusiasts will enjoy their stay in Sort. There are various activities and excursions to enjoy the beautiful Pyrenean landscapes, such as the trails leading to Noguera Pallaresa and the Àssua Valley, as well as picturesque rural villages steeped in history.
Among the must-visit places are Rialp, reached by crossing the 19th-century Santa Caterina suspension bridge, and San Mauricio Lake in the Aigüestortes National Park (Aguas Tuertas); you can also see the Els Encantats mountain range.
This national park boasts peaks over 3,000 meters high, ravines, rivers, waterfalls, and swamps that are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as more than 200 ponds of various shapes and colors.
The area's numerous rivers, waterfalls, ravines, and ski resorts are what make it the capital of extreme sports. This is why adventure lovers flock to this region every year to try climbing, hydrospeeding, and bungee jumping.

The Noguera Pallaresa River is considered by experts to be among the best in Europe for whitewater sports, which is why it is the scene of an international rally where last year the 56th Noguera Pallaresa International Rally was held, organized by the Sort City Council, the Pallars Sports Association, the Catalan Canoe Federation, and the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation.
