The beautiful lands that make up the north of Lleida, and more specifically Pallars Sobirà, are an area that offers its visitors great diversity, creating a stunning natural paradise that is home to countless animal species, making it an idyllic spot for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and ornithological tourism. These lands are home to a large number of birds, perfect for lovers of winged animals looking to observe the most amazing species in flight.

In just over two hundred kilometers, you can enjoy seeing a wide range of birds that call this Lleida paradise home. In wetlands such as Aiguabarreig del Segre and the Cinca, you'll enjoy seeing beautiful species during the spring months, as this is a breeding area for various herons. This is also the case in the Utxesa area, where you can easily spot the common heron year-round. In the southernmost part, you'll come across a steppe area where you can enjoy seeing little bustards, sandgrouses, and, with a little more patience, the common heron.

If you head to the mid-mountain ranges, such as Montsec, you can witness the breathtaking flight of large birds of prey such as the bearded vulture or the golden eagle. Further north, and more specifically in Bourmot, you'll be able to see the black vulture, where the species is being reintroduced. If you want to see species such as the ptarmigan or the black woodpecker, you'll have to climb to the Pyrenees.

Pallars Sobirà offers ornithology enthusiasts a series of routes where you can enjoy all these species and many more. These ornithological routes are extremely interesting for birdwatchers, always surrounded by a natural environment that will surprise visitors.

The Vulture Valley Route is a perfect route for all types of travelers, for everyone who wants to enjoy a day immersed in nature, observing birds of prey such as the griffon vulture, the golden eagle, the common falcon, the Egyptian vulture, the eagle owl, and the bearded vulture. It's undoubtedly a delight for those passionate about birds and ornithological tourism. This route is designed for vehicle travel, although you can also take it by bicycle or on foot (31 kilometers). Along the way, you'll come across various viewpoints for wonderful views.

Another highly recommended route is the Montsec Route, a truly privileged spot for birdwatching, including harriers, Montagu's falcons, ducks, and terns, among many other species. Although birds can be seen at any time of year, the best time to observe the beautiful and majestic birds of the area is between September and June. During the winter months, you can see resident and migratory birds such as Bonelli's eagle, eagle owl, bearded vulture, and birds with beautiful autumn colors.
