The beautiful lands of northern Lleida, and more specifically Pallars Sobirà, offer visitors a wealth of biodiversity, creating a stunning natural paradise that is home to countless animal species. This makes it an idyllic setting for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and ornithological tourism enthusiasts. These lands are a refuge for a great number of birds, perfect for those who love winged creatures and want to observe the most amazing species in flight.

In just over two hundred kilometers, you can enjoy observing a wide variety of birds that call this Lleida paradise home. In wetlands like Aiguabarreig del Segre and the Cinca, you'll enjoy watching beautiful species during the spring months, as this is a breeding ground for various herons. The Utxesa area is another great spot, where you can easily see the harrier year-round. Further south, you'll encounter a steppe region where you can enjoy watching little bustards, sandgrouse, and, with a little more patience, the chum-billed tinamou.

If you head to the mid-mountain region, such as Montsec, you can witness the breathtaking flight of large birds of prey like the bearded vulture or the golden eagle. Further north, specifically in Bourmot, you can enjoy the sight of the black vulture, where the species is being reintroduced. If you hope to observe species like the ptarmigan or the black woodpecker, you'll need to travel up to the Pyrenees.

Pallars Sobirá offers birdwatchers a series of routes where you can enjoy all these species and many more, ornithological routes that are very interesting for birdwatching enthusiasts, always surrounded by a natural environment that will surprise its visitors.

The Valley of the Vultures Route is perfect for everyone, offering a day immersed in nature and the chance to observe birds of prey such as the griffon vulture, golden eagle, common kestrel, Egyptian vulture, eagle owl, and bearded vulture. It's a true delight for bird enthusiasts and ornithological tourists. This route is designed to be traveled by car, although you can also cycle or hike (31 kilometers). Along the way, you'll find several viewpoints offering breathtaking vistas.

Another highly recommended route is the Montsec Route, a truly privileged location for birdwatching, where you can spot species such as the Montagu's harrier, ducks, terns, and many others. Although birds can be seen year-round, the best time to observe the area's beautiful and majestic birds is between September and June. During the winter months, you can observe resident and migratory birds such as Bonelli's eagle, the eagle owl, the bearded vulture, or birds with lovely autumnal colors.
