The mountains are covered with snow and clouds float above them

Legends, stories, and literature permeate the lands of Pallars Sobirà, especially if you head to the captivating Vall d'Àssua. When we talk about the Vall d'Àssua, we're talking about a landscape straight out of a novel, a landscape that hides countless stories to tell within its verdant landscapes. This beautiful valley in the Pallars Sobirà region encompasses parts of the municipalities of Sort and Rialb.

Within the beautiful and magnificent Vall d'Àssua, you'll find a literary landscape renowned for its special significance in numerous literary works. Specific spaces have been used as the setting for certain important, and in many cases crucial, scenes in the works. Literary works that feature a fragment of the story set in this valley are described with great precision and detail, and there are even spaces that are featured repeatedly in various novels.

Literary works or novels in which you can read fragments that talk about the beautiful Vall d'Àssua include 'Les Veus del Panamo' by Jaume Cabré, 'Verd madur' by Josep Virós, as well as the works 'Mel i metzines', 'Pedra de tartera' or 'País íntim', all by María Barbal.
