The two FGC Group ski resorts located in Pallars Sobirà have prepared various activities beyond skiing and snowboarding. These include a recreational park and snow garden, a disc golf course, snowshoe trails, and ice diving. Port Ainé has created an adventure area in the recreational park, featuring zip lines, Tibetan bridges, and a snow quad circuit.
The Espot and Port Ainé resorts offer a range of activities for non-skiers and children. Aware of the need to adjust seasonally, the resorts have adapted these activities to also be available in summer. The main attraction of Port Ainé and Espot is their leisure park, whose main objective is to create fun activities for skiers, non-skiers, children, and adults alike during their stay at the FGC Group resorts.
The activities available at the two recreational parks are numerous and varied. First, there's a tubing slope located opposite the 2000-meter mark in Ainé and Espot, a fun activity that involves sliding down a slide inside a giant donut, a delight for children and adults alike. Another option is tobogganing down the toboggan run, located at the 2000-meter mark, where the whole family can enjoy safe descents with all the necessary equipment.
For the little ones, there's the snow garden activity, with the newly opened Niu del Gall Fer play center. A place where children can have a great time playing and learning, supervised by qualified staff, while parents enjoy skiing. The snow garden facilities have an indoor play area equipped with educational and recreational materials and an outdoor area with psychomotor games and rest areas.
One of the most innovative offerings at the resorts is the disc golf courses. There are 10 baskets in Portainé and 6 in Espot, and the course is played using snowshoes. Disc golf is the first marked course in the entire Pyrenees. It's a very popular sport in the United States and is very similar to golf, but instead of a club and ball, it uses a flying disc and baskets.
In addition, the 16 baskets have indicative elements referring to the areas where they are located and their relationship with the Aigüestortes Park or the Alt Pirineu Park. Disc golf is an activity for all ages, with a minimum of two players and a maximum of eight. The game lasts approximately two hours.
This season, several activities have been launched for non-skiers, who can go snowshoeing along different routes. At Espot resort, there's the Espot Ski 2000 route, a short, 1.5-km family route to discover the resort's surroundings, departing from the Cote 2000. There's a second route, the National Park, which climbs to Llac de Sant Maurici over a 4-km route. In Ainé, there are also two routes: the family route to discover the Black Pine forests of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, or the Pic de l'Orri route, a long 6.9-km route around Ainé resort to access the two panoramic viewpoints of Pic de l'Orri, offering 360º views of the Pyrenees.
Another route is the night hike in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, a 2-3 hour guided walk under the moonlight, to contemplate the glitter of the snow, the different constellations, and the trails left by animals in the forest.
Specifically, at Port Ainé resort, an adventure area has been created within the recreational park, with new areas for children, alternative activities to skiing, and activities to promote the natural surroundings. The new Port-Ainé adventure park has opened, including a complete multi-adventure circuit where adventurers can enjoy various activities such as the double zip line or the Tibetan bridge. Continuing with this adventure theme at the recreational park, a snow quad circuit and a snowmobile area have been created at Portainé, and an area previously available for mushing (dog sledding) has also been renovated.
In Port-Ainé, you can also enjoy an igloo-building activity for the whole family, and you can also go ice diving in Jabali Lake, at an altitude of over 2,200 meters. This activity, aimed at experienced divers and PADI certified divers, offers an experience and added value with high-altitude dives, with the added benefit of diving in atmospheric pressures very different from those found at sea level.
