RIALP MATXICOTS AT PALLARS SOBIRÀ 2022
What is
Rialp Matxicots is a high-mountain trail for runners of all levels.
The event has three modalities according to the section and sporting difficulty: the big test, 50 km and 4,500 meters of positive elevation gain , is the most attractive trail of the competition, but you can also participate in the medium test, 21 km and 1,500 meters of positive elevation gain or in the 10 km walk .
One of the new features of this edition is that children ages 3 to 16 will also have their place in the "Rialp Matxixics" competition. In addition, a Masters category is included for participants over 50.
Why run in the Rialp Matxicots
Last year, the 11th edition of the Rial Matxicots was voted the Best Ultra Trail in Catalonia 2021. Since its inception, the competition has received numerous awards, from the Ultrescatalunya portal to the Runedia-Mundo Deportivo ranking, ranked by users year after year as one of the highest-rated.
And no wonder.
The event is a clear commitment to tourism in the area, fully focused on mountain sports . A weekend packed with activities for family and friends to enjoy the best views.
Within the Rialp Motxicots route, runners pass through emblematic points such as the Aigüestortes National Park , Estany de Sant Maurici and the Alt Pirineu Natural Park .
Waterfalls, rivers, lakes known for their whitewater rafting , as well as a multitude of charming villages such as Altron, Escàs, Roní or the abandoned village of San Romà de Tavèrnoles .

Running the Rialp Matxicots is a high-level competitive challenge that brings together the best runners from Spain and other countries.
The location of the trial in the Pallars Sobirá region is a challenge for runners due to the terrain and steep slopes. Participants train with the goal of beating their best year after year, completing the trial in record time.
Rialp is a town dedicated to running, with training stations available year-round.
This year, around 1,000 registrations are expected.

Rialp Matxicots is a project launched more than 10 years ago by a group of people motivated by sports and the environment. Currently, more than 300 volunteers and non-profit organizations join together to bring this magnificent event to life.
