There are many options for excursions from Sort, visiting rural villages and admiring the natural landscapes. After telling you about Batlliu and Arcalís in the previous post, we want to introduce you to the most magical part of Pallars Sobirà. If you want to discover legendary routes that could be the stuff of fairy tales, pay attention!
Novel places in the Àssua Valley

This is a comprehensive route that delves into the Àssua Valley along the old bridleways that connected the Batlliu and this valley with Catalonia. It's perfect for getting to know the town in its entirety, as you'll soak up the essence of Pallars Sobirà, with its agricultural and livestock history, while also taking in the mountain landscape. It's a 30-kilometer stretch of considerable difficulty, but it's definitely worth it. Along this route, you'll be captivated by the views of Monteixo, Montsent de Pallars, and the Torreta de l'Orri. You can also refresh yourself in the Batlliu and Àssua springs, and you might even spot the occasional wild deer. This area is said to have inspired many novels. Will you find your muse there?
Noguera Pallaresa and Àssua Valley

If you want an unforgettable memory, this excursion will leave you speechless. From a different perspective than the previous route, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Noguera Pallaresa region from above, as you'll enter Rialp via the 19th-century Santa Caterina suspension bridge. You'll also visit the trails of this small town's medieval castle and lose yourself in the history and picturesque streets of Surp, Altron, and Olp. The hike is approximately 18 kilometers long and can be done year-round.
The dragon of Saverneda, Tornafort and the Siarb valley

A path full of excitement. You'll travel through Savarneda, passing through the Soriguera ravine, and learn more about the origins of the village of Puiforniu, from where you'll reach Tornafort. You'll also enjoy a pleasant descent back to Savarneda. The views of Montsent de Pallars will leave you breathless, and you'll be able to hear and see the black woodpecker.
After learning about these excursions and the ones we explained in the previous post, you're sure to be able to plan a well-rounded trip filled with unforgettable moments. Have you already done any of these routes? Which is your favorite?
