GERRI DE LA SAL BY ESTAC, MENCUI I PERAMEA
A linear route of 33 km in length (one way only) that allows you to discover the charming villages of the southern sector of Pallars Sobirà, following ancient paths full of history, with dry stone margins and cobbled sections that preserve the essence of the traditional Pyrenees.
The route begins in Sort and traverses the slopes of the Llarvén and Estac mountains, passing through the villages of Bressui, Enviny, Montardit de Dalt, Escàs, Mencui, Balestui, and Peramea, before ending in Gerri de la Sal. It is a physically demanding hike, both in terms of distance and elevation gain, and is therefore recommended for hikers accustomed to long-distance routes in the Pyrenees.
This linear route from Sort to Gerri de la Sal takes you through the mountainous landscape of southern Pallars Sobirà, in a transition zone between the Pre-Pyrenees and the Catalan Pyrenees. You will walk among Scots pine forests and holm oak groves, following the old paths that once connected the small villages scattered across the slopes of the Noguera Pallaresa river valley.

Fair. This route is suitable for hikers with experience on long-distance trails. The physical demands are high due to the steep elevation gain and distance involved. Pay attention to your orientation; the trail can be difficult to identify at some points.

Observations:
1. The route is long and entertaining, so it's important to plan your trip well and take daylight hours into account. We also recommend avoiding days with the highest levels of sunshine.
2. The trail is marked with yellow paint continuity markers and signposts at intersections. You should also pay attention to your orientation, as some sections may lead you astray. We recommend using a GPS device.
3. There are water sources at Bressui, Enviny, Montardit, Estac, Balestui, Peramea and Gerri de la Sal.
4. If we want to shorten the route and finish it in Baro, from the "Escós crossing" we can take a track that takes us to the center of Escós itself and, from this point, we can follow a signposted path to Baro.
5. Once you've finished the route in Gerri de la Sal, you can combine vehicles or take the scheduled bus to return to Sort. You can check the schedule at www.alsa.es. The bus also stops in the town of Baro.

How to get there by car:
The starting point for the excursion is Hotel Les Brases in Sort. We arrive in Sort via the C-13 highway. The Hotel Les Brases is located on the C-13 highway, just north of the town. There is free parking in front of the hotel.
