TAVASCAN
COMA DEL FORN PEAK FROM LA PLETA DEL PRAT
Tavascan, we discover the peak of Coma del Forn, a perfect viewpoint of the High Pyrenees at the head of the Cardós valley.
A linear route of 6.8 km (round trip) and a cumulative elevation gain of 965 m takes us to the summit of Coma del Forn (2,685 m) from the Pleta del Prat refuge. We begin the route from the Tavascan ski resort, ascending the Mascarida stream, passing through Pleta de Gavàs and reaching the Mascarida and Diablo lakes. We continue ascending, skirting the Mascarida del Dalt lakes and flanking the southern slope of the mountain. We reach the crest of Coma del Forn and reach the summit. We descend along the same path.
At the northernmost tip of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, between the Tavascan Valley and the Gola Valley, we find the pyramid-shaped peak of Coma del Forn (2,685 m). Climbing it on mountain skis or snowshoes is a classic route, highly appreciated by winter mountain lovers. In any case, no matter when you do the route, even in summer, you're sure to enjoy sensational views in all directions thanks to the privileged and relatively isolated location of this magnificent mountain.
