IN TAVASCAN
HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT
Tavascan Water Interpretation Center.
The Tavascan Interpretation Center was created to showcase a transcendental aspect of the modern history of electricity in Catalonia: the construction of the Alt Cardós Valley hydroelectric complex in the 1960s and 1970s. Based on a historical overview of the area, the center describes the construction and operation of the Tavascan and Montamara hydroelectric plants within the mountains, as well as the extensive hydraulic system that provides the necessary flow rates, including reservoirs, pipelines, and technical installations.
It also includes a chronological summary of the construction of all hydroelectric plants in Catalonia (with a capacity greater than 5 MW), complementing the information on hydroelectric power plants in general. A visit to the Espai FECSA ENDESA inside the Tavascan plant is also included, showing the impressive scale of the work carried out and the live operation of its facilities.

How to get there: From Llavorsí, a town located on the C-13 road between Sort and Esterri d'Àneu, we head towards the L-504 road to it, in Tavascan.
