MEDIEVAL TOWN
Vila closa de Peramea i l'Era d'Ortega.
Peramea displays the most characteristic urban features of what we might describe as a medieval enclosed town, a type of compact, clustered settlement, enclosed within itself, in which the walls of the houses themselves serve as walls. Evidence of this medieval origin is provided by the town's entrance gates, its urban layout, the castle ruins, and the Colomers Tower.
The village was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest in 1985. Within the village, you can also visit the Era de Ortega (information and visits: 973662053 or 630887939), a former agricultural and livestock production space recovered and restored by the "Lo Vent de Port" Cultural Group. It hosts exhibitions, offers guided tours, and offers educational workshops. Near the village, you can also visit the Mosquera dolmen and the Sant Cristòfol fountain, as well as take various hiking trails.
