SALT MUSEUM
Gerri de la Sal Museum is located in the old salt warehouse. The building has approximately 650 m² per floor, distributed across three floors and an attic. On the first floor, you'll discover how it's possible to produce salt so far from the sea.
The museum is divided into three parts distributed in four halls .
In the first two buildings you will learn about the work that was done in the warehouse: the printing, the weighing, the different types of salt that were produced, and their distribution.
In the third hall, through four audiovisual presentations and four models, you will discover the process of working in the saltworks: from when the water comes out of the spring to how it is transformed into salt, as well as learning how the salt was processed in Gerri and where it was stored during the production season.
Finally, in the last building, a five-minute audiovisual presentation explains when salt production began in Gerri and why the activity had to be abandoned.
The museum also has a farm shop with products from the region, such as ratafia from Gerri, salt from Roser, biscuits from Noguera Pallaresa, natural soaps, and many other local products.
Come and discover how salt is made in one of the few inland saltworks in Catalonia!
