If you're planning to head to the mountains to try snow sports, you'll need to be prepared. It doesn't matter if you're someone who never gets off the chairlift or someone who's never been to the snow. We're sure this will help you pack your suitcase.
First, you need to figure out where you'll get your ski or snowboard equipment. If you have your own, no problem; you're sure to have everything ready. If not, there are several rental shops in Sort. Decide what type of ski you'll be practicing and find out what type of equipment you should rent for your level of ability.
Aside from all your snow gear, you'll need warm clothing to combat the cold. Remember that several quality, thin layers do much more than anything else. They'll help keep you warm, but it's important that they allow you to breathe. It's neither good nor pleasant to sweat a lot, as you'll notice it later on the descent.
Start small to get organized, packing thermal underwear and long-sleeved shirts, then the rest of your clothes. If your feet are very cold, consider wearing thin socks and then thicker ones on top, as well as some really good boots . You'll also need a waterproof snow jacket (if it's lined, even better).
Of course, you should also make a list of the rest of your essential items, such as a helmet (it's always better if you're safe), a hat, a scarf or buff, and two pairs of gloves: one for skiing and one for casual wear.
Don't forget to protect yourself from the sun. Bring snow goggles, or at least sunglasses with good lenses, since everything becomes brighter when the light reflects off the snow. Also bring high-protection sunscreen, both for your skin and lips , since the sun burns more in the mountains than at the beach. And don't forget to take care of your hands, as they will suffer greatly in the cold and wind.
All of that's fine for use during a day on the slopes, but don't forget to pack enough for afterward.
A word of advice for girls: forget about heels, walking on icy streets in them is synonymous with accidents.
We look forward to seeing you at Hotel les Brases
