On the banks of the Noguera Pallaresa River, nestled between mountains and vegetation on all four sides, is the surprising Monastery of Santa María de Gerri, whose origin dates back to the year 807. Fortunately, this construction has managed to preserve itself quite well, rising before its visitors with great majesty. As a curiosity to say that inside lies the tomb of Saint Ot of Urgell, a bishop who greatly favored this monastery.
Another of the mentions that cannot be left out is the Romanesque Ensemble of Son del Pi, one of the most emblematic Romanesque architectural works of Pallars Sobirà. This set of buildings includes the church of Sant Just and Sant Pastor, the Gothic altarpiece, the Comunidador-clock tower, and the holy water, baptismal and oil sinks, of great heritage value.
A most charming visit that you cannot miss is the Esterri d'Àneu Romanesque bridge, a fabulous construction belonging to the last period of the Romanesque style. This bridge has two arches, and has a total length of 28 meters and a maximum height of 9 meters. Over the river Escrito there is also another beautiful bridge known as the Romanesque bridge of La Capella.
