BATTLLIU DE SORT WINERY
Five friends, passionate about wine and Pallars Sobira, wanted to revive wine production in the municipality of Sort and revive an activity that had been lost for two hundred years. On the Barreró estate, owned by the Counts of Pallars, in 2007 they planted 6 hectares of Viognier and Riesling grapes, as well as the black Pinot Noir. Years later, the Batlliu de Sort winery has finally launched its first high-mountain wines from the 2010 and 2011 harvests (grown at an altitude of 900 meters): Biu Negro (Pinot Noir) and Biu Blanco (Pinot Noir and Viognier).
The winery is located in a visually stunning setting, surrounded by deciduous forests, on the slopes of the Noguera Pallaresa River and near the Aigüestortes National Park and Sant Maurici Lake. At Batlliu de Sort, they have a special way of showcasing their work, thanks to a complete experience (with advance reservation) that includes a visit to the vineyards, a mountain trek, and, to top it off, a wine and cheese pairing, provided by a local cheese factory.
